Mapleton is a charming small town located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, approximately 90 minutes' drive north of Brisbane. The town is situated on the Blackall Range, at an altitude of around 450 metres above sea level, and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. One of the main attractions in Mapleton is the Mapleton Falls National Park, which is located adjacent to the Hideaway Falls cottages. This park is home to a beautiful waterfall, rainforest, and several walking tracks, including the popular Picnic Creek Circuit and Wompoo Circuit. Mapleton also offers a range of other attractions, including a number of art galleries, cafes, and shops, offering visitors a chance to explore and experience the local culture.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Mapleton offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding. Having a car in this area is highly recommended. There are many different types of walks in the area once you get here. The closest walk (which does not require a car) is at your door step – Mapleton Falls National Park. The park covers an area of approximately 52 hectares and is home to a stunning waterfall, rainforest, and a variety of flora and fauna. The park also features several short walking tracks, ranging from easy strolls to more challenging hikes. The Picnic Creek Circuit is a popular 1.3km walk that takes visitors through lush rainforest and past a small waterfall, while the Wompoo Circuit is a 1.8km walk that offers stunning views of the waterfall and surrounding countryside. In addition to the walking tracks, the park also offers picnic areas with barbecues, toilets, drinking water & free paking, making it a great place to spend a day exploring and enjoying the outdoors.

Travelling north from Brisbane along the Bruce Highway, the sight of the Glasshouse Mountains heralds the approach to the Sunshine Coast hinterland, one of the most beautiful and accessible holiday regions in Queensland.
